CORNER, OWEN, died 8 Jul 1943, Ordinary Seaman, Source/story: Trinidad Guardian, 27 Nov 1943: San Fdo. Nov 26: Confirmation of news of death of Mr Owen Corner of St Vincent, while serving on a Norwegian tanker, was received yesterday by his brother James Corner of Trinidad Leaseholds Ltd, Point-a-Pierre. He lost his life in mid Atlantic through enemy action. Brothers are Vivian - Sgt Instructor - RCAF, William, formerly Royal Canadian Engineers, now invalided, Cyril doing war work in Canada and James of TLL. M/T B.P. Source/story: Trinidad Guardian 20 June 1942: The schooner was stopped by a U-Boat and the crew ordered off into their lifeboats. The schooner was then sunk by shellfire. Edghill was last reported seen on the Bridge at this time.
